March Club Challenge

I realized I hadn't posted our first club challenge from April.  So here it is!

We vote at the end of the night who has created the best card, and I won for April.  I know I just posted a Princess card, but this is a different way to show her off.  And no coloring required!  I just love the combination of rich razzleberry and pink pirouette.

I included the design that was our template.

Vanilla Cupcakes

I used the vanilla embossing powder on these cupcakes to give a little tasty smell to the card.  The vanilla sure smells nice and makes the mouth water!   I really like the cupcakes as the background.  I wasn't sure how to make the card at first, but figured out that you need to cut the paper (the stripes - chocolate chip, marina mist and tango), snail them to a scrap paper, stamp with versa and emboss.  This way you'll have the cupcakes lined up perfectly in the background.

Freshly Made Sketches #32

I know it's a bit early for Father's Day, but I thought it was the best sentiment for this card.  You could also use it for a masculine Birthday Card.  But I feel like most of the cards I make are for Birthday - so thought a Father's Day would be a good one!

And now I'm prepared for Father's Day in June!

Flower Quilt Card

The quilting technique for cards is so great, that it's my new go-to card.  It can be used for anyone, for any reason, and it uses up those scraps!

I also used some versa stamping on my flowers as they felt just too plain.

Sister Sarah is just too busy with work right now, which is why you haven't seen any of her cards.  But she'll get me some photos and I can show you what she's been working on.

Kindle Case

So - last month I ordered some of the material from SU as I used to sew quite a bit, and have made a few quilts in my time, but life got busy and I got introduced to card making, so the sewing went on-hold.  But I needed a case for my Kindle and I saw Angela had made one, thought it was a good idea, so made one myself.  I used by Big Shot to make the squares.  Most of the quilting that I've seen on-line using the Big Shot uses a larger square, but I don't have one, so that's why my squares are so little.

I used the larger square on the Scallop Squares Duo.  This sure is a fast way to make even quilting squares!

I will definitely order more of the material.  It's a nice quality and easy to sew with.  I just have to figure out what to make next.  Any thoughts?

Freshly Made Sketches #31

Now that I'm getting into this blog thing and have done a Mojo Monday, I thought I'd try out a Freshly Made Sketches.  This is sooooo much fun!  It's so great to have a template to follow and a deadline!  What would we do without deadlines?  I think we'd still be making our very first card.  Ha Ha.

If you haven't read any of my other blog yet, I'm just getting into the blog thing - so our blog still needs work - links to SU site, more pizazz in general, my watermark still needs to be completed and added to my designs, etc. etc.  I'll get there.  It will just take me a bit of time.  I'm spending my time card designing instead of finessing the blog.

I just love the simplicity of the card designs.  The simple the better I think.

Here's my "Princess" attempt at a Freshly Made Sketch.

Mojo Monday 237

This is the first Mojo Monday challenge that I have participated in.  This is a fun project and I really enjoyed doing it.  I'm going to try and make this a weekly habit!

I'm still trying to figure out the "proper" way to do a blog - putting a ghosted image of my name on my cards, adding stampin up information to the sides of my blog, adding all the information regarding supplies that I use for each card, etc. etc.  But at least I'm now bloggin!  The rest will come in due time.

Baby Congrats

Quick post this morning as my daughter (Alice - 2 1/2 years) is sick.  So she is craving the mummy attention!

This card was made for my sisters sister-in-law who had a baby boy within the last few weeks.  It took me sometime to get it in the mail, but I finally did yesterday.  I love using the polka-dot embossing folder on the Big Shot.  It adds so much to cards in such a simple way.

I also used the polka dot embossing folder on the envelope flap too.  Adds some finesse!

Faux Leather Embossing Dinosaur

I made this card for a birthday party my son Max (age 6) had to go to.  It was fun to try a new technique - embossing the background using masking tape to get the textured look.  Here's a link to how you can make this look happen:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/faux_leather_with_masking_tape/

The only thing I found I did wrong and that I would change next time, was I'd put more ink on the masking tape to give it a darker look.  It worked out fine for this dinosaur background, but make sure you add lots of ink!

I put the masking tape down on a piece of scrap paper and ran it through the Big Shot before inking and embossing!

Club Challenge - April

I'm finally getting to my second posting.  It's taken a while as we had some things happen at home that has delayed me for quite a while to get going on this blog.  Biggest thing was our 12 year old was sent to heaven on Sunday.  We found out last Wednesday that he had a huge growth in his head and really the only thing we could do was relieve his pain and send him onwards.  I've included a photo of Porto.

I'm part of a monthly club night at Angela's house (our upline www.northshorestamper.com) and we are starting a monthly club challenge using the templates from Mojo Monday site.  Here's the template Ang gave us for this month and here's the card I created, in memory of Porto.  And Sarah's card as well.

As I get better with the postings, I will start adding the tools I used to create the cards.

First Posting

Well, I'm taking a big step and starting a blog.  I've been viewing a lot of blogs and figure it's time to share what I've been doing with others, in hopes that people will view my blog, like my designs and want to use me as their Stampin Up Demonstrator.

This Easter basket I made for my daughter's daycare.  I filled it with chocolate eggs and the kids loved them!  I hope you like it too.
